Last night I played in the first brewery session. It was my first ever gig in boston and it was a truly unforgettable experience. Hosted by Jessica from New Music Co, Dylan from Bears Eat Beats, and Mike from The Best Beer Blog. Nick from the Acre played the first part of the night.
Jessica sent me The Acre album a few days before i headed up to boston. I was sitting in a Starbucks in New Jersey proofreading my younger sister’s college essay. After the first song, I stopped proofreading and focused on the music. It’s a phenomenal record. The songs Nick played by himself translated well and not a drop of his charm was wasted.
I’m a very lucky man. I had never met any of these people before; our contact was limited to quick emails without introductions and the occasional gchat. Despite that I was greeted with delicious beer, an overwhelmingly attentive crowd, and a handful of unfamiliar faces that I am very excited to call my new friends.
I forgot a few lines and my guitar wasn’t always in tune. I ended the night at a bar, gracelessly drunk, with a group of friends that i haven’t seen in about two years. The enthusiasm for my songs and warm reception was extremely flattering. It is nights like these that make being a performing musician such a joy. I just wanted to share some pictures of the night and thank everyone who was involved.
